Smooth. A little sweet. A touch of malty-ness. Decent drink.

Having an interesting pastry Stout it's gotten decent reviews from others. But dessert stouts are my favorite so I'm really looking forward to this.
Surprisingly small head that quickly disappears. Dark brown opaque in color. A small swirl coats the glass thickly. Aroma has chocolate, a sweet liqueur alcohol, and after numerous sniffs, it actually does have faint notes of egg custard. Heavy texture, not sticky at all, on the dry side. Immediately get a semisweet dark chocolate, mild spice, and traces of soft vanilla and caramel, in that order. In the middle I start to perceive some molasses. In the finish I finally detect the addition of modest alcohol. I'm still tasting more of a background flavor of egg custard. Not getting the roasted or burnt sugar I was hoping for.
This is a good beer that deserves a good rating. And I'd be more than happy to have another. But I think my expectations were too high. Never really got the creme brulee or the crust that others found very apparent. I guess I was hoping for a home run here.

Cherry flavor dominates start to finish. Not picking up any heat, but there again I eat spicy foods. The finish fades pretty quickly.
