I will need to taste this one again to do it justice - I let it sit too long in the fridge. Having said that, this is good. Smooth, chocolaty flavor with the coffee right there to compete with it. Merry Christmas one and all.

Barrel Aged Advent Calendar Day #14 Canned on 4-2-2021 Marshmallow and light toffee notes in the aroma. Taste has marshmallow first, followed by oak, toffee and light bourbon. Very well balanced and easy to drink despite being 13%. The body is full with a nice low amount of carbonation making is slide across the tongue. Leaves a bit of stickiness on the lips after sipping. This was an interesting one. It's really mellowed out and blended beautifully over the years in the cellar. I wouldn't be upset if they decided to release this again. 4.75/5

Barrel Aged Advent Calendar Day #12 Canned on 9-29-2023 Strawberry stands out the most in the aroma, but the vanilla and chocolate are both there as well. Taste has sweet strawberry first, followed by vanilla, chocolate, bourbon and oak in that order. The oak is primarily in the finish and aftertaste. The body is full with medium-low carbonation. Honestly, I understand this has only been in the cellar for about 2 years, but it's drinking as good as it ever has. It seems this is the only barrel aged release that Saugatuck does anymore, but it's always a must buy. 4.5/5

Barrel Aged Advent Calendar Day #10 Canned on 6-6-2022 Noticeable peach aroma with some hints of wine underneath. Taste has sweet peaches mixed with the wine which offers a dryness and slight bitterness to balance this one. In the finish and aftertaste some oak becomes apparent. The body is medium-full with a medium-ish amount of carbonation. This isn't something I'd grab regularly (supposing it was so available), but I'd gladly enjoy this occasionally, given the chance. 4/5

Well, it's that time of year again. Time for me to come out of hiding and share the experience of my barrel aged Advent Calendar with you. This is the...7th year, I believe. I think I started this in 2019. I pull beers from my cellar to help dwindle the supply and see how things are aging. The rules are simple: 1) The bottle/can size can't exceed 16oz. 2) The beer must be aged in a barrel. 3) The beer cannot be from the current calendar year. Barrel Aged Advent Calendar Day #1 Canned on 8-31-2020 In my current location, I can't really get a nose on this...too many other smells present. Taste has bourbon, roasted malts, vanilla and oak coming through first, followed by chocolate. The oak lingers into the aftertaste. Full body, smooth mouthfeel and low carbonation medium-low carbonation. This one is drinking beautifully right now. I wish I had more, but sadly this is the last one. This is wonderful. 4.75/5
