Barrel Aged Advent Calendar Day #12 Canned on 9-29-2023 Strawberry stands out the most in the aroma, but the vanilla and chocolate are both there as well. Taste has sweet strawberry first, followed by vanilla, chocolate, bourbon and oak in that order. The oak is primarily in the finish and aftertaste. The body is full with medium-low carbonation. Honestly, I understand this has only been in the cellar for about 2 years, but it's drinking as good as it ever has. It seems this is the only barrel aged release that Saugatuck does anymore, but it's always a must buy. 4.5/5

Barrel Aged Advent Calendar Day #12 Canned on 9-29-2023 Aroma is liquid neapolitan ice cream. I'm not getting any bourbon at this point. Taste has strawberry first, followed by chocolate and vanilla. Throughout the entire sip, bourbon is present, complimenting the experience. The body is medium-full with a medium-ish amount of carbonation. I would love to have the carbonation to be less, so it'd feel more like a higher abv stout should be. I prefer the double dipped version overall, but I'll never knock the OG barrel aged version. They nailed the flavor profile they were going for. High 4.25/5

This is awesome. I've no idea where Home Bargains find these beers but they must be congratulated. It really does what it says on the tin.

Side by side review with Bourbon Barrel Aged Neapolitan Milk Stout and Double Dipped Neapolitan Milk Stout. The bourbon barrel aged version is obviously aged in bourbon barrels, while the Double Dipped is aged in bourbon barrels and then aged in brandy barrels. Bourbon: Vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and bourbon in the aroma. Taste has vanilla, chocolate, bourbon and strawberry in that order. I'm pleasantly surprised that I'm getting the strawberry, since the last bottle it only existed in the aroma. The body is medium-full and the carbonation is appropriately low. Double Dipped: Vanilla, strawberry, brandy, chocolate and bourbon in the aroma. Taste has strawberry, vanilla, brandy, chocolate and bourbon in that order. The body is on the higher end of medium-full and the carbonation is appropriately low. They're both great stouts and I can't quite pick a winner due to the age of the bourbon barrel aged version (2 years). I do like the double dipped a lot, but I think the addition of brandy barrel aging mutes some of the flavors of the base beer. The bourbon barrel aged version is great fresh fresh and really complimented the base. For these reasons, I'll pick the bourbon barrel aged version over double dipped. 4.5/5

Barrel Aged Advent Calendar Day #12 Strawberry, vanilla and chocolate blended with bourbon in the aroma. Taste has bourbon first, followed by chocolate and vanilla. I'm not really getting any strawberry in the flavor, which is a bit disappointing. Still really good, but it seems the strawberry has faded with age. Might be time to pull the rest of these from the cellar. The body is medium-full with an appropriately low amount of carbonation. High 3.75/5

Chocolate, strawberry and vanilla in the aroma along with some bourbon. Taste has the same. It tastes like Neapolitan ice cream made with bourbon. Strawberry, bourbon, chocolate and vanilla in that order. All the flavors shine. Definitely one I'll pick up yearly. 4.5/5

Side by side review alongside the non bourbon barrel aged version by suggestion of a friend who prefers the flavor of the non-BBA version. Bourbon hits first, followed by chocolate, vanilla and strawberry. Taste has bourbon first, just like in the aroma, followed by chocolate, strawberry and vanilla. Medium-full body with a medium-low carbonation. To be honest, both do a great job nailing the flavor of neapolitan ice cream. This one has the bourbon influence first, with the ice cream flavor more on the mid-palate and back end. This one is my preference, and the winner for me, but both are great. 4.25/5
