Happy Friday! Found a new beer in Rome Georgia. Very pricey so I hope it's worth it. A double IPA from Savannah Georgia. Pours to a slightly hazy deep yellow. Head is half as high as the beer, very frothy and lasting. Citrus aroma with a combination of orange and pineapple. Texture gives a very soft and smooth feel. Very drinkable so be careful with the 8.2%. With the double hops you would think that the flavor would be powerful but it's not. Very subdued and not particularly bitter. Flavor is unchanging in the finish and trails off quickly. I'm not a big fan of super powerful IPAs but this is perhaps a little too mild for even me. A little more punch would have been welcomed. Definitely not worth the price I paid.

Ryan's diet is killing my beer enthusiasm. No one to have beers with has slowed me down. This oyster Stout starts with a very thick and frothy head that is lasting. Aroma has a sweet nutty characteristic along with some light malt. Texture has a modest amount of softness, very smooth to drink. The flavor reveals a deep sweet malt roast. Appears to be a slightly burnt molasses. There's also notes of either leather or tobacco in the background. Just before the finish, an unusual flavor appears on the back of the tongue. It's obviously the oyster shells giving it a salty brine sharpness that continues through the finish. During the finish a hop bitterness joins in. I enjoyed this beer with this unusual flavor. Would not go out of my way to have another but definitely enjoyed this one.

A Duo beer I found from Savannah Georgia. German phrase for "Devil Dogs". Modest head, beautiful color. Crystal clear, deep reddish orange, pure amber. Fragrant aroma relays bread, amber malt, sweet flowers. Texture, while smooth, is on the heavy side. Most Oktoberfests are much lighter. Flavor has a deep toasted amber malt. Very bready. A sweetness that comes from a honey that was produced from a flower environment. Not an orange blossom honey but one produced around wild honeysuckle. Carries this flavor smoothly into the finish where the only change is that it develops a small dryness. Overall, I really enjoyed this beer. I love heavy flavorful brews. But this is more of an American bastardized Marzen Octoberfest. Good but much too heavy to drink all day.
