Advent Calendar #️⃣2️⃣1️⃣ reveals a muddy, jet black beer. Shiny bright. Impotent carbonation. A really oppressed lace ring emerges on the surface. Looks beige, I guess...
Bourbon is copious in the olfactory universe. The individual nuances include cane sugar, date, purple grape, vanilla, coconut and a whisper of syrup. A slight alcoholic twist hovers above the cocktail.
The taste profile is truly sweet. Even awkwardly sweet. Powerful Bourbon conquers every nook of the mouth. Vanilla, bags of cane sugar, raisin, purple grape, date, coconut and syrup. Almost identical to what I find in the scent.
The body is medium-full. Or even less... This clocks 12.7 % anyway. Clearly misses the peer standard. The tail is oversweet, just like the actual taste.
The beer gives a medium-full, sappy, lip-glueing, barrel aged and a bit alcoholic impression. A tad intense and semideep. Beautifully warming. Unfortunately, far too sweet to the intensity.

Hiukan jännitti ottaa tämä maistoon, mutta yllätti positiivisesti. Mustaherukka ja mustikkahan sopii ihan täydellisesti stouttiin.

Reilusti vaahtoava. Karamellimaisen maltainen, murukeksinen. Jälkimaku kääntyy aavistuksen kuivahkon puolelle.

Fifth and final course: desert
The dish itself was the least of all, but the pairing with this cherry and almond imperial pastry stout was impeccable.
All in all another great evening with good company, great food and some great beers.
As almost every beer this evening, this final beer was pretty high in ABV, but not overly sweet (for a pastry stout). Great conclusion.

Advent Calendar Beer #️⃣3️⃣. Murky, dark brown is the appearance of this beer. The carbonation is a bit wild child and starts misbehaving right at cracking the can open. A fawn foam is pushed out of the can and spills on the table. Fortunately, not much. The foamy crown thickens up to two fingers and melts gradually to a generous lace ring and dense lacing.
The nose receives cookie, bitter caramel and a nutty slam. The various nuances are, nevertheless, somewhat limited. Furthermore, I can pick a faint herbal twist that I can't recognize. Or is it floral? Could even be something that may have used in my herbal beers but, like said, can't identify it.
Brown caramel malt, cookie, a bit of cacao beans, marginal piney hops and distant aniseed on the tongue. Interesting. The aniseed note must come from tarragon that is an ingredient unlike aniseed. Otherwise quite pleasant but the aniseed brings in an unexpected tweak to the cocktail but I surely appreciate the brewery's innovative approach.
The body is light to light-medium. Not really up to the ABV. The tail lifts the herbal tarragon/aniseed higher and also maintains the moderate bitterness of the flavor package up to the end.
The mouthfeel is light, slightly herbal, smooth and fragrant. It doesn't feel dry but leaves a drying feeling on the teeth. +0.2 stars extra for an uncommon herb in the beer.
