Hoping everyone is having a great Christmas Eve.🎄 Hooray! Last beer in Aldi's Advent Calendar. Been a rough 24 days. Hoping for a basic decent wheat beer. Medium high head. Light aroma of wheat and malt. Has the appropriate deep yellow color with only a touch of haze. Soft and smooth texture. Mild sweet corn and malt beginning, and then..... Ouch! Middle of the beer and straight through the finish is a distinctive metallic taste. Very unpleasant. As if they're not using a can with a lining. Again this one is going to be poured out. Not going to ruin Christmas Eve with this. Son-in-law and I on Duo both have a fantastic Stout to end the evening on a good note.

Aldi Advent Calendar number 23. Expectations are totally dissolved. Ready for this endeavor to end. One more to go. Aroma is good, grapefruit with notes of tangerine. Deep yellow color, lightly hazy but no particulates. Taste is of grapefruit, no tangerine, soft and malty. Actually that's okay. Finish brings a level of bitterness that isn't strong but rather strange. Has a soapy characteristic. In the background but still distracts from the overall experience. I guess a 2.8 is decent for this Advent Calendar. Had this in the early afternoon so I can look forward to some good beer tonight.

Beer number 22 in Aldi's Advent Calendar of beers. Another super high head, lasting quite a while. A little Haze in this light copper color. Aroma is not correct for this beer. Sour. Flavor starts with a decent mild Amber flavor but when the finished kicks in it's metallic and overly bitter. Finish is just awful. I'm done with it. Pouring it down the drain.

Beer number 21 in Aldi's Advent Calendar of beers. Doppelbocks or one of my favorites so expectations are high. Very thick, very frothy tan head. Deep brownish red totally clear color. Sweet malt aroma. Soft and smooth texture. Sweet, mildly roasted malt. A blend of toffee and deep in the background traces of raisin. No bitterness whatsoever and the flavor continues through the finish. Now this is a good beer. Not great but a good beer. I could easily enjoy several of these.

Aldi's Advent Calendar beer number 20. German style pilsner. Beers haven't been going good lately. Correct amount of head, looks good. Medium yellow color, appropriate for a pilsner. Unusual aroma, sweet and malty corn but its smells like old beer left on the table from the night before. Flavor is not good. Very light corn quickly overwhelmed by a sharp peppery bitterness. Finish adds an artificial and metallic taste, traces of iron. This is not good. Pouring this down the drain. Starting to get concerned that my patience for economy or average beer is too short.

Aldi Advent Calendar day number 19. Yet again, another high frothy head that has an orange color. Body is clear orangish-yellow. Minor effervescence. Good citrus aroma. No weakness there. Flavor is citrus, but totally undistinguishable. No dominant flavor with only a glimpse of lemon in the middle. Soft and smooth texture. Bitterness level is a little high especially during the finish. But overall it's very drinkable and a pretty good representation of a West Coast IPA.

Day 18 in Aldi's Advent calendar of beers. The end is within site. Medium high head, it's lasting with a continued effervescence. The appropriate amount of yellow color. The beginning of the aroma had traces of orange juice and malt. First taste gave me the orange and then quickly turned to a strong citrus bitterness. A lot of hops in there creating this. Finish adds some pine which it could have done without. Not a good beer, it's okay, but they achieved in creating a hoppy lager. Flavor not as weak as the other beers. Decent economy beer.

Beer number 17 in Aldi's Advent Calendar. Last two were bad, got to get better. High head, almost pink in color. Reddish orange, clear. Faint aroma, minor sweet fruit. Again, the flavor is muted and subdued. Just a sigh of cherry giving away to very refrained tart punch. No finish, just empty air. This is just flavored water. The lemonade I had this afternoon had more flavor. At least I didn't pour it out.

Aldi's Advent Calendar day number 16. Last night was awful. Had to go have a known excellent Stout afterwards to make up for it. Hopefully this one's going to be an improvement although Belgian style dark ale sounds risky. Pours to a very deep brown, not much head and all of it quickly disappears. Excellent aroma of banana nut bread. Enticing. What just happened? Got the briefest hint of banana and then everything went to hell. Burnt, charred wood and leaves. Finish is acidic and metallic. Bad, just bad. Did manage to take several sips in order to describe how these awful flavors tasted. Couldn't do that last night. Still, if you see this beer, don't drink it. Really, don't drink it. Desperately need to pick a promising beer to share with the son-in-law on Duo. These Aldi beers are getting rough.
