When leaving Lake Ossiach in Austria we stopped at a nearby supermarket to pick up some fresh bread rolls for the trip. The entrance was all but blocked by a display of regional beers, so ... A beautiful maroon, amber colour with a beige head that barely gave me time to take a picture of it before it died on me. Faint aroma of malts and biscuits, with a distant savoury hint. Sometimes some caramel. The mouth was very thin for the first sip. This beer needs some time. Later on malts accompanied by a mild bitter make up the pallet. A surprisingly long and unexpected aftertaste and almost buttery feeling save this beer.

Nun das Wimitz. Kastanienbraun zeigt es sich. Mit nussbrauner Haube. Es riecht malzig und auch beerig fruchtig. Auch ein bisschen rauchig. Im Antrunk ist es weiter rauchig. Sehr schön. Fruchtig ist es nur noch dezent. Im Abgang wird es auch noch leicht bitter. Alles sehr rund. Tolles Bier.

Feine Röstaromen. Minimal Trocken Pflaumen. Würzig herb lecker. Trinkt mehr Bier 🍺!!!

Nachtrag: Schlammig rotbraun mit wenig Schaum. Die Nase ist überraschend hefig bananig, dazu etwas unreife Beeren. Säuerlich herb im Antrunk, Banane ist auch gleich am Start. Die Hefe aus der Nase ist nun noch etwas kräftiger, sonstige Früchte nur subtil in unreifer Form, die ebenfalls etwas grüne Banane überwiegt. Der Abgang ist dann relativ herb und trocken. Das Christkind auf dem Etikett gaukelt mit seiner roten Nase ne gewisse Süffigkeit vor, die fehlt aber komplett. Überzeugt nur bedingt, vom Etikett über Nase und Geschmack.
