Barrel Aged Advent Calendar Day #13 Bottled in 2023 Maple syrup, coffee, chocolate and light bourbon in the aroma. Taste has bourbon first, followed by coffee, maple syrup, chocolate and oak that shows up in the mid-palate and stays around through the finish and into the aftertaste. The bourbon also lingers in the aftertaste. The body is on the higher end of medium-full with an appropriately low amount of carbonation. This is one that doesn't disappoint. Some years may be better than others, both fresh and aged, but it's always an enjoyable experience. I might do what I did a few years ago and try a current version after, but we'll see. I'll update this if I do. 4.5/5

Tuoksu runsaan, todella miellyttävän ja maukkaan bourbonviskinen ja tynnyrinen, runsahkon kahvinen, makean ja ohuen paahteisen tumman maltainen ja ruisleipäinen, makean tumman siirappinen ja kuivatun hedelmäinen (rusinaa, luumua, viikunaa, taatelia) sekä kepeän mausteinen. Maku runsaan, maukkaan, makean ja kevyen paahteisen tumman maltainen, runsaan ja miellyttävän kahvinen, tumman suklainen, makean tumman siirappinen ja kuivatun hedelmäinen (rusinaa, luumua, viikunaa, taatelia), ruisleipäinen ja mausteinen, runsaan ja miellyttävän bourbonviskinen ja tynnyrinen sekä selkeähkön katkera. Oikein hyvät, runsaat, monivivahteiset, tasapainoiset ja hyvin aikaa kestäneet ja ikääntyneet maut. Suutuntuma on runsas, täyteläinen, kuivakka ja vähähiilihappoinen. Edelleen todella maukas, runsas, monivivahteinen ja mukavasti nautiskeltava imppistout, vaikkakin oluen runko ja paras tasapaino ovatkin jo alkaneet hieman hajoilemaan.

Barrel Aged Advent Calendar Day #4 Bottled on 10-1-2020 Sitting in the glass 1 1/2 feet away, I could already smell it. Upon smelling it in the glass, the Mackinac fudge coffee is still very present. Maple syrup is behind that. I'm not getting any bourbon or oak, but that could be because of the other aromas. Taste has a mix of the coffee and maple syrup to start, followed by bourbon that shows up and lingers into the finish, and oak that shows up in the late mid-palate and takes this one home. The body is medium-full with an appropriately low amount of carbonation. I would love to try this exact batch of beer fresh to see how it's actually changed, but for this being 5 years old, it's simply a masterpiece. Unfortunately, this happens to be my last bottle so, unfortunately, this good thing has now come to an end. Until they decide to brew this one again... High 4.5/5

Tätä oluttyyliä on harvemmin saatavilla. Tuoksussa siirappia. Maku on hyvin paljon barley winea muistuttava. Alkuun pehmeää pähkinäisyyttä, maltaisuutta ja karamellia, mutta jälkimaku on hieman turhankin kitkerä. Jälkimakua lukuunottamatta hyvä olut.

An der Farbe sofort zu erkennen. Schokoladig mit etwas Kaffeegeschmack und so dunkel, dass man nicht durchsehen kann. Sehr gelungen. Vlt im Abgang einen Hauch alkoholisch. Haut auf jeden Fall ganz gut rein
