Going to the dark side today. Doing a double up to start. I was shocked as I did not know that Yuengling made a bock beer. Saw a 12 pack and grabbed it. This has a malty taste that leans towards toasted caramel, dark bread, a touch of nuttiness and just barely a hint of cocoa. It’s only semi-sweet and does has a little bitterness to it. Second beer had basically the same results but seemed a little tamer. I guess because I adjusted to it. Overall a surprisingly very good bock beer. Date, I think, is a number listed starts with 2602 but with a bunch of numbers afterwards. Watched the 6 Nations. Saw the Ireland win today but had to watch the replay for France vs England that just finished. What a great game. I thought England was going to pull it out but no. 6 Nations is the greatest rugby 🏉🏉🏉 Had to research since growing up with Yuengling and not knowing about the bock beer. History of the Yuengling Bock Production: 1940s: Based on historic labels from this era, specifically 1941. 1970s: The Bock went out of regular production in the 1970s. 2008-2010: Re-launched in 2008 as a draft-only seasonal, returning in 2009 for the 180th anniversary and in 2010 due to popular demand. 2014: The brand was retired in 2014 before its latest return. 2024: Reintroduced again as a seasonal, malt-forward, dark brown beer for the 195th anniversary.
