Fairly murky, copper beer. A tad timid carbonation. A white frothy lacing emerges on the top up to one finger and descends soon to a thin lace ring. Slightly sweet malt, biscuit and dried apricot reach my nose. Nothing spectacular but decent for the style. Sweet-leaning malt, biscuit, dried apricot, grass, resin and a drop of inverted syrup land on my tastebuds. The dry-hoppy twist intensifies towards the end. The mouthfeel is light-medium, soft, smooth, distantly Belgiany, a bit crisp, tangy and slightly lip-glueing.

Now in Piran 🇸🇮 A super cozy town by the northern pocket of the Adriatic Sea. I bought this and a couple of other beers on our way from Bohinj/Bled to here. Looks semihazy amber. A soft off-white head climbs one finger high and dissipates to a slightly billowy lace ring. A fairly standard hop-forward IPA scent: grapefruit pith, orange peel and resin. Maybe a bit of malt, too. Grapefruit is obvious in the taste: grapefruit pith and peel, accompanied by lemon peel, resin, grass and a malty touch. Truly distant hop burn in the back of the mouth. The mouthfeel is light-medium to medium, crisp, zesty, pithy, dry and drying. Style compatible. Delivers beautifully!

And an Oatmeal Stout. Not sure if it makes a good refreshment but I'll go for an untasted one, no matter what. You know me! 😅 Roasted malt, coffee and raw cacao powder in the scent. The gustatory attack is milder, roasted malt and a coffeeish touch still landing on the tastebuds but also toasted oat flour and smaller injections of blackcurrant twig and lemon pith. I would have voted for a Baltic Porter or even a Black IPA in a blind test. The mouthfeel is light to light-medium, which is a bit on the thin side for the style but decent for the strength, a tad dry, roasty, slightly burned and marginally tart.

End of trail @ Soteska Vintgar Gorge. Magnificent sceneries, I must say. And now – of course – a couple of local refreshments. What a fantastic excuse! Straight from the bottle, both. Ju-pi emits grass, grapefruit peel and wheat in the air. A tad dry-hoppy taste but less than what the fragrance suggests. Wheat is obvious. Citrus, especially grapefruit zest and peel, maybe also lemon in some form, as well as grass. Feels light, frothy, crisp, dry and drying, pretty much what can expect from an American Wheat.
