A new acquaintance still at the airport. Straight from the can. Impotent malty and bready scent. The flavor package is astonishingly narrow: malt, metallic, a hint of water cracker and a suggestion of grassy hops. Scanty body, even for 3.5 %. The mouthfeel is watery, metallic, a tad dry and drying. Oh gosh, this is really lackluster and characterless.

Now a really local beer called "Manica".  🇲🇿 The city of Chimoio (Manica Province) doesn't look very impressive as you can see in the picture. A pale gold beer, what else? The reasonable  carbonation serves a white head that finds itself at the level of one finger. The scent is very suppressed, modestly malty and a bit perfumy and, hence, slightly odd. Pale malt travels also onto the tongue, accompanied by something like sugar and significantly marginal hops. The body is thin, and the end identical to what I already have on the tastebuds. The mouthfeel is thin, refreshing, marginally strange and lip-glueing. Not sure if this is a bad sample or just not a winner. First time ever to eat cassava leaf sauce. Yummy! 😋 A bit like pesto but balmier. Goes beautifully with rice.

Foggy, very dark brown beer with subdued carbonation builds an off-white lace ring on the top. The fragrance is simple: oppressed dark malt. Only. The gustatory profile opens a couple of new fronts with toasted dark rye bread, molasses and a bit of bitter syrup. The body is light. The finish gives especially syrup and molasses for a short while. The mouthfeel is roasty, light, relatively soft and smooth. Fairly decent for an African dark lager.

A long journey ✈️ but finally some excellent food and a refreshing beer. Social situation, gotta be brief. The appearance of the beer is clear gold. Pale malt features in the scent. The tongue receives the same pale malt, escorted by very restrained hops. The body is thin. The end is identical to upfront. The mouthfeel doesn't make the church bells toll: bulky, refreshing and thin but also clean and balanced. Weak performance anyway.
