Sitting out on the Guadalupe River with all of us enjoying nothing but Texas beers. This one from Brazos Valley. Almost no citrus in the aroma, just a hop bitterness. Hazy color, a light yellow, almost opaque. First taste has almost none of the citrus flavors that I enjoy in most IPAs. Lots of hops and bitter beyond my tolerance. Felt guilty polluting the Guadalupe River with this but it had to go.

Sharing on Duo with my son-in-law this Texas German style pils from Brazos Valley. High and very frothy head. Pale yellow color that's crystal clear. Aroma is a sweet lemon. Light crisp texture. Taste reveals sweet corn, with soft notes of lemon. Finish adds a small amount of bitterness and turns medium dry. This is not a complicated beer. I believe they accomplished exactly what they were trying to brew, a German-style pilsner. Very refreshing and extremely drinkable.

At my son's house and having another triple share with my son, my son-in-law, and me. Have been saving this Texas beer quite a while. Expectations are high. Very dark pour, almost no head. Black color. Aroma of dark fruit and boozy. Texture not as heavy as expected, almost crisp. Strong dark fruit, like raisins, quickly followed by a very dark deep chocolate. Alcohol present the whole time. As the finish arrives, a deep roasted coffee is added with a small bitter bite brings this experience to its conclusion. This is an excellent beer and it is very well balanced and smooth on flavor.

In Houston with family enjoying good Saturday football and some Texas beer. Intense alcohol in the aroma, coconut on top of that. Puts a thick coating on the inside of the glass. Now my expectations are going wild. First taste is fantastic. Heavy, creamy body. Coconut combined with a sweet dark milk chocolate. Perfectly balanced. Finish is a bit dry, adds mild coffee bitterness with some of the 10.5% alcohol. Excellent!!

Duo with my son-in-law, good old Texas beer. Lemon ginger radler should be interesting. Strong ginger and lemon aroma from the can and even stronger once it's in the glass. Moderate white head that dissipates quickly. Very hazy deep yellow color, has as many large particulates as I have ever seen. Strong ginger ale flavor with equally strong doses of freshly squeezed lemon. They seem to complement each other perfectly. It finishes with a sourness of lemon peel. Would have probably enjoyed this more outside on a hot day. Pretty good brew but not one that I will try again.

Having a Duo beer with my son-in-law. This is a Texas Russian Imperial Stout from Brazos Valley Brewing Company. Starts with a chocolate frothy head. Very boozy aroma. Heavy texture with an early blast of alcohol. Flavor hits you with rich dark chocolate, has some vanilla, and slightly bitter. Some undertones of coffee gives it a crispness. The finish mellows the chocolate into a smoother milk chocolate. All of this had alcohol overtones from the Jim Beam barrels but I never distinctly experienced the bourbon. The alcohol actually seemed like more than the 10.69%. This is another excellent beer from Brazos Valley. My son-in-law and I have put it on our bucket list to go visit this brewery in Texas.

Duo beer with my son-in-law in Houston Texas. This one is a Texas beer from Brenham Texas, Brazos Valley Brewing Company. We have enjoyed several of their beers now. Medium-high, tan head that dissipates. Aroma is of strong chocolate. Very creamy texture but not overly thick. Initial flavor is strong bittersweet chocolate that continues into the finish. Finish adds a little twist of caramel or coffee. Something like tiramisu, but very faint. While the texture starts creamy it manages to finish dry. Strange. Enjoyed this beer very much, nothing negative to say about it. When I go back to Texas I am going to try to find more of this.

Pours with a decent head. Color is a beautiful reddish Amber, has some haziness to it. Has a nice aroma, at least to me, of chocolate. Taste has coffee, light, nice medium strength flavor. Finish is quick and dry. Very Good. (Just discovered that my last 14 posts were set on private. Changed that. )
