Leo v Ursus #1 Fortem
8.2% Imperial IPA / Double IPA
Fortem is a new-age imperial IPA that draws upon a range of influences, all while exhibiting DNA from our own forays into the IPA style. As such, it blends newer hop varieties from the Pacific Northwest and Hallertau, Germany along with pale malt, wheat malt and flaked oats for a full body and rounded mouthfeel. Fortem has been left unfiltered for a full hop impact.

Who would win a fight between a bear and a lion? Who knows... what I do know is that this is a bloody marvellous beer!! Quite piney with a light caramel backbone which is propped up by the oats. The fruits are restrained but there’s juicy pineapple, grapefruit and a whiff of orange. Finish is medium bitter and smooth. Mouthfeel is truly outstanding, nice smoothness from the oats and spot on frothy carbonation. In all one of the best balanced, and easy drinking DIPA’s I’ve had to date! Bravo!!
