BEER: Oak-Aged Vanilla World Wide Stout BREWERY: Dogfish Head Craft Brewery BEER STYLE: Imperial Stout (Oak Aged) COUNTRY: USA ABV.: 14.0% - 18.0% COLOUR (EBC): Coffee Black (70.0) BITTERS (EBU/IBU): 70.0 AROMA: Dry nutty, malty and oaky. Dry and surprizingly stubby. HEAD: One finger tall, loud and fast. GREY’S VIEW Imperial Stout aged in Oak and flavoured with Vanilla Beans. First sip...is slow. So calm and relaxingly slow. Warms and calms you down. So nice. Flavour wise. I pick solid and strong malt base, somewhat dry oakiness with dried nuts and also distantly, but clearly the vanilla. There’s also chocolate, cocoa powder, dry rye breadiness and wild flowers, but I don’t say them... Yeap. The being. It’s build into a swift and light body. Oakiness trying to be the main thing here all the way, yeah. ABV. is notable, warming my cheeks and the hairs in my thin but Tarzanese kind of chest, but also bringing that boozy taste into this ramble. Woot?! ...yeap, don’t know. OTHER NOTES: Let it warm up and build up. Take your time and relax with this. Most of all: enjoy. It’s a quirky beer with high ABV. Most likely ment to slow and snowy moments in a nice and comfy armchair. BOTTLED 15/6/2017 TASTED 10/3/2021

2017 vintage aged for the better part of a year. 16% abv. Oak, vanilla, chocolate and roasted malts in the aroma. Taste has vanilla first, followed by booze, chocolate, roasted malts and the oak coming through on the back end. Warms the throat on the way down. It's nice to see the flavors haven't faded, because I wouldn't mind aging this further to see if the alcohol heat dies down some more. It's not offputting, but it's noticeable and with a little less alcohol heat, this could be world class. Body is medium-full and the carbonation is approximately low for a high abv stout. A delicious stout that I hope they will make again. Would love to try it against a fresh bottle. Definitely a 4.5/5 I have 2 bottles left. I think I'll wait until about this time next year to try the next one

I've had this before. Oaky aroma fresh out the fridge. As it warms, vanilla is prominent with some oak and bourbon. Smells great and I've never had this at a proper stout temperature, so I'm excited. Very sweet taste up front. Vanilla is there. Chocolate as well. Oak is present. Alcohol is very present, but in a complimenting way. Definitely a sipper at 16% abv. This is damn good and I have a store that has this still. $40 for a 4-pack, but well worth it and I'd love to see how this ages. 4.5/5 easily
