This is a special barrel aged version of Caribbean Chocolate Cake, one of our all-time favourite beers, created in collaboration with Cigar City Brewing. Our dense, rich and luxurious stout has been maturing in bourbon barrels, picking up delicious vanilla, whiskey and oak character. Lots going off... lovely colour, pours a deep, deep red. Rich, smooth texture with dark chocolate and bourbon barrel backnotes. Intense, tangy dark cherry finish. Doesn't say 'caribbean' to me, apart from how easy it goes down for a 8.8%-er.

Thick, intense and full of chocolate goodness with spice running through. Don’t want to wish the year away, but this is going on my letter to Santa!

After munching a whole lot of delicious Christmas food it's time for a new brewery to me: Siren craft brew & BA Caribbean chocolate cake. Can has 9,4% alc vol but here in the app it says 8,4%. Canned on 25/11/19 so fresh stuff. BB 25/11/20 so why not drink while it is fresh. No point of saving it for later. Pours deep black in color with just a bit of brownish foam. Dies out hastily without any traces on the sides. Aroma has loads of dark cacao and dark chocolate and I'd say the chocolate is as raw chocolate cake, in no way any sweet chocolate cake. Whiskey and I also get a feeling of whiskey fudge. Aged in bourbon barrel so the oak is there to detect. Can tells me of cypress wood but can't say what's the aroma of that, it's there because of some strange smelly nuance. Bourbon gives a boozy sensation on nostrils. Flavour is of dark chocolate and raw chocolate cake and a dark fruit flavour of plum is strongly on the palate which I honestly didn't get on the aroma. After that whiskey plays a big role and warms up nicely and stays for a long period of time. No delicious vanilla to be detected that they so eagerly advertise on the can. Nothing to be too much hoorayed for (no sweet chocolate cake that I was hoping for) but a nice ending to a good evening and night. It's a solid four points at least but I'll give it a 0,1 more. 😊

Intense chocolate aroma but this doesn't carry into the taste which is overpowered by the whiskey taste. Overall nice tasting but not much to distinguish from other ba stouts, whereas other Siren Chocolate Cakes are such distinctive stouts. Can is 9.4%
