Velvet Merkin is the beer that almost wasn't…Indeed, this vintage oatmeal stout's comical (or is it scandalous?) name went oﬀ the grid for several years, but now it's back due to popular demand. Velvet Merkin is aged for a full year in retired spirits barrels from Heaven Hill, Woodford Reserve and others, yet manages to oﬀer mind-boggling balance and restraint. You will wig out when you taste Velvet Merkin's rich milk chocolate, bourbon and espresso ﬂavors, preceded by aromas of vanilla, coconut, toasted oak and mocha.

Maltainen pohja. Kohtuullisen hiilihappoista. Kahvia ja tummaa suklaata ja selvä bourbon vaniljoineen. Ehkä vielä vähän raaka tuo bourbon, joten kypsyttämistä kaipailee.

Erinomainen tynnyriolut taas näiltä tyypeiltä. Tykkään kyllä näistä todella paljon. Vielä vähän terävä bourbonin pisto mutta hieman ikää ja se on siinä. Varmasti paranee.

Prosenttejaan tukevampi. Oikein maukas olut. Bourbon hallitsee tuoksua, mutta maussa tulee oluen nyanssit esiin. Kahvi, suklaa, vanilja.

A very nice, kind of easy stout aged in bourbon barrels. Roasty, full of espresso and vanilla, along with some chocolate, but the sweetness isn’t in the main role. A bit dry, more light bodied and not sticky stout, finishing up with boozy bourbon. A nice one, different what I usually go for though.
