Russian Winter 5.3%, Itchen Valley Brewery, England

Russian Winter
5.3% Stout
Comrades! The war on tasteless beer is raging. Too long have we been oppressed with capitalist lager and stout imposters. This deep dark ale holds pleasing hints of coffee. Rich and powerful (rather like our brewer). In spite of the strong ABV it is all too easy to drink a lot of this, so take care.

It's not as full-bodied as many other stouts which is a shame. I like my stouts in 'one lump or two' format. On the plus side, it's flavourful. Coffee mellows into a lasting smokiness. Interestingly, the initial hit is grape.

Smooth but lacking in anything but a vague coffee flavour.
