Roadhouse Coffee 2025, United States
4.9
My daughter and son-in-law's awesome diet has really cut back on our beer Duos. Tonight we're having the 2025 version that we've enjoyed before has a 2024. I gave it a 4.8, this one's a little different. Instead of 16% it's 14.9%. I'm so ready for this. Black as motor oil but almost no head. This is intense. The alcohol in the aroma clears the nasal cavity. Strong coffee, dark chocolate, and some stone fruit, mostly raisin. Yeah this is powerful. First sip delivers an alcohol surge that has my mouth and even gums tingling. Is this really just 14.9%? Excellent flavor of strong coffee, neither burnt nor chared, just strong. Blend that with notes of dark chocolate, a touch of raisin, and a tiny splash of natural raw vanilla extract. It begins with a soft gentle texture that gently coats the inside of the mouth. All of this is revealed on the first couple of sips but it's consistent. Through the middle and into the finish all the flavors stay the same. Neither rising or falling in their balance. As I slowly enjoy this beer, I begin to notice that there's no barrel flavor infused and this definitely is not bourbon but a straight whiskey flavor. I've enjoyed some powerfully high alcohol beers before but this 14.9% seems so much higher. But in a good way because it accentuates the other flavors rather than try to dominate them. Even with the lower alcohol, this 2025 version is going to be bumped up a little.
