Tonka bean, maple syrup and vanilla, sounds very inticing, and the wax topped bottle with nautical artwork is also very eye catching. Pour from the bottle was weighty but a little listless, left a thick, black body, with trace amounts of bubbly, brown head. Aromas off the bat is a simultaneous mix of all the advertised notes of strong bourbon, maple syrup, tonka bean and vanilla, with a little dark chocolate and espresso to round it off. Mouthfeel is peculiar, very gentle carbonation at first easing into the heavy body. Though after the fact, the body doesn't feel heavy, in retrospect it is a medium body but with a syrupy current running through it. This syrupy current sort of phases in and out, making the body feel thicker sometimes, and other times, making it feel thin with an artificial addition. Taste is pleasant, warm alcohol provides the perfect balance to the semi-syrupy body, which is lashings of brown sugar and molasses along with the woody bourbon. The brown sugar and molasses sort of merge and meld into the maple syrup, with some coffee arriving into the mix. The last of the sweetness carries the vanilla out as the chocolate malt rises to fulfill the last of the aftertaste. Not bad, delivers on the advertised flavours with a nice alcohol kick to cut through it all. But it feels as though something is lacking, like it should be better than it is.

Näftinsormenleveyden verran mokkakahvinväristä aikanopeasti laskevaa vaahtoa erittäin tummanruskean valoaläpipäästämättömän oluen yllä joka tuoksuu makean vaniljaisen vaahterasiirappisen paahteisen maltaiselle ja maistuu makean lempeän suolaisen? Kahvisen kaakaoisen tammisen punkkuisen viskisen veikeän maltaiselle, neljä bojoo. PE: November 2027.
