I'm running behind with the advent calendar beers... Now Advent Calendar #️⃣1️⃣3️⃣. Again from yesterday. This is the second one of the Baden Power series, this time rum barrel aged. Looks opaque black as expected. The carbonation is restrained but the emerging fawn head reaches almost one finger. It's clearly more than yesterday. A neat lace ring is what is left of the foamy lid after a while. An intriguing scent: sweet rum, cane sugar, syrup, date, a small amendment of milk chocolate and distant cacao nibs. A gentle barrel nuance completes the list. Beautiful sweet rum lands on the tastebuds and portrays loads of cane sugar, date, soaked barrel notes and faint raisin. Further elements include milk chocolate, cream and cacao nibs. And again, alcohol is entirely camouflaged. This is attractive! The body is full. Rum and rum barrel give a brave punch in the end. The rum-related components are maintained but the chocolatey flavors can't carry this far. The mouthfeel is full, deep, gentle, lip-glueing and barrel aged. Appealing roundness and smoothness. Really balanced, slow sipper and rewarding.

Très chouette : texture, couleur, mousse, tout d'une bière ! Mais un bon goût de rhum, avec en toute fin de bouche les notes de Porter ! Par contre, elle est peut-être un peu trop forte en goût et en alcool pour une bouteille de 33cl..
