Damals hat mich das Kees Caramel Fudge Stout regelrecht weggeballert. Jetzt (oder schon länger) gibt es eine Version die 12 Monate im Glen Turner Bourbon Fass gereift ist. Das Stout bleibt optisch gleich. Schwarz mit beigem Schaum. Der Duft ist eine Mischung aus Caramelltoffee und Vanille mit einer guten Portion likörigem Alkohol. Der erste Schluck läuft schon super rein. Ich muss aber sagen, daß die Bourbon Whisky Note sehr zurückhaltend agiert. Eine Erstbelwgung war das wohl nicht. Dieses Stout ist agiert eher nicht mit dem Vorschlaghammer. Vanille- und Toffeenoten sind fein ausbalanciert. Hinten raus kommen dann subtil kaffeeartige Röstaromen hervor. Die Bittere ist angenehm. Gleiches gilt für die Süße. Ein Pastry Stout ist das hier mMn eher noch nicht. Der Alkohol bleibt immer angenehm lakritzlikörig, was genau mein Ding ist. Mir gefällt auch diese Version sehr gut. Für ein Barrel Aged ist es aber nicht komplex genug, obwohl die Basis natürlich schon sehr geil ist. Deshalb kleinen Abzug in der B-Note.

Kerta kiellon päälle. Erinomainen tuoksu. Karamellia, vaniljaa, kahvia ja Bourbonia. Mausta löytyvät kaikki edellämainitut, kokonaisuus jää kuitenkin hieman pliisuksi. Johtuneeko hapottommuudesta?

Advent Calendar Beer #️⃣2️⃣0️⃣. Colors murky, pitch black. As predicted. The carbonation is rather shy as it unlocks a fawn silky lacing that even falls short of half a finger. The foamy cap melts fast to a thin lace ring. Dark chocolate, raw cacao powder, caramel, a bit of toffee, vanilla and moderate Bourbon reach my nose simultaneously. The scent is soft and pastry-like, promises a desserty experience. The tastebuds enjoy dark chocolate, caramel, Bourbon, faint vanilla and raw cacao bean. Barrel notes are evident. Generally speaking, there's nothing wrong with the taste but the overall experience is somewhat oppressed as if all the components are relatively minimal. The body is light-medium. At 11.5 %, it feels scanty. Suboptimal anyway. The finish puts especially Bourbon forward, together with oak barrel and raw cacao bean. Later, even a suggestion of licorice steps onto the stage. The mouthfeel is light-medium, strong, a tad thin in this ABV cohort, soft, smooth, pastry-like and distinctly barrel aged. All in all, lackluster anyway.
