I have an itch for a stout but a brown ale will have to suffice. Poured well from the can, a little vibrant but not out of control.
Body is expectant dark brown, verging on black with a nice foamy mocha head that didn't last unfortunately.
Scent is quite subdued. Very malty at first but as the head dissipates, the scents fade. All that's left is a little chocolate, slight brown sugar, coffee and a little iron too. Ocassionsly there is a nice cinder/ashen smell from the glass.
Mouthfeel is as expected, moderate carbonation, medium body and a nice slick coating in the mouth afterwards.
Taste is iron and cinder at first which morphs to roasted coffee. The coffee has a sort of spent or burnt taste about it but some mild chocolate rolls in with a sweetness that softens the harsh notes.
Great potential but it really fizzled out about half way through.
