CBS Canadian Breakfast Stout (2023)
11.7% Imperial Flavoured Stout / Imperial Pastry Stout
CBS is a bold imperial stout featuring chocolate and coffee that has aged in bourbon barrels with maple syrup. The sweet, but balanced, aromas of maple syrup and chocolate fill the air, while notes of toasted oak and vanilla become more profound with every sip – melding together in what can only be described as a transcendent drinking experience.

Tosi kahvinen, paahteinen ja lämmetessä tulee tuoksussa vaahterasiirappia. Pikkasen lisää runkoa kaipaan.

Bottled on: 16.10.2023. Tuoretta on. Parhautta. Edelleenkin 5/5 olut minulle.

Having this Duo beer that Ryan brought. Hard to go wrong with a Founders Stout. Aroma has sweet maple and a woodsy bourbon. Medium high dark brown head. Texture is silky smooth and very soft. Low amount of effervescence. Flavor gives an immediate blend of bourbon maple and milk chocolate, in that order but quickly. The finish transforms the chocolate into a semi sweet dark chocolate and strong coffee bitterness while moving to Maple and the bourbon gently into the background. This is a very well balanced beer. Strong flavors while each doesn't try to overwhelm the other and in the end relinquishing to something new. Founders always seems to come through on their stouts.

Barrel Aged Advent Calendar Day #13 Bottled on 10-2-2019 Bourbon, maple syrup, chocolate and coffee in that order in the aroma. Taste has...wow... that jumped through a lot of flavors very quickly. Taste has bourbon, chocolate, maple syrup and then coffee, finishing with bourbon, oak and light coffee in the finish and aftertaste. The body is full with low carbonation. This has aged pretty well so far. The bourbon is more at the forefront with the coffee and maple syrup fading a bit with time. Everything is still there, but it's definitely a different beer than when it was fresh. Bonus side by side comparison... Bottled on 10-16-2023 Comparing to 2023: Coffee, chocolate, maple syrup and bourbon in that order in the aroma. Taste has maple syrup, coffee, chocolate and then bourbon with coffee and bourbon in the finish and aftertaste. The body is full with low carbonation. This is more how I remember fresh CBS being. The coffee and maple syrup are definitely the stars of this one, but all of the expected flavors are present, minus a noticeable oak presence. It's there, but doesn't really jump out. Of the two, I prefer the fresh CBS, but you really can't go wrong with either. 2019: 4.5/5 2023: 4.75/5

A nice blend of chocolate, coffee and maple syrup in the aroma. Taste has chocolate and maple syrup first, transitioning into notes of coffee with bourbon mostly throughout, but especially strong in the finish and aftertaste. The body is medium-full with lower carbonation. It'll never be the same as the first time I had CBS, but it's still a great beer. 4.5/5
