Now something peculiar: a red wine sour ale. The beer is dressed in a translucent, deep burgundy veil. Carbonation is short-lived and fizzy. The emerging head is white–pinkish, quite subdued and dies fast. Then, the surface is totally still and calm.
Red wine is unmistakable to the nose. Something like semidry and with a strong purple grape twist. Wine yeast is obvious in the fragrance. I can also spot a pinch of salt and mashed blackcurrant. Very interesting and certainly unique, which always fascinates me.
Can't wait more for a sip. The tongue enjoys distinct red wine flavors: purple grape and wine yeast. The "wine" itself is a bit odd, like salty and young for sure, I wouldn't necessarily like it as a wine. A suggestion of raisin, unsugared blackcurrant and dark plum peel enter the macabre show, as well. As if I picked a distant coffeeish note, too. What an uncommon cocktail for a beer!
The body is light-medium. Could and should be bigger at 9.5 %. The final chapter tells pretty much the same story as before. Let's wiggle 'til the aftertaste giggles, and we're feeling okay; wiggle, giggle, wiggle (hey!); wiggle, giggle, giggle, wiggle, squiggle, wiggle, yeah!
The mouthfeel is strongly vinous, tannic, juicy, tart, dry and drying. The flavors are intensive, young and perverted in a good way. I 💜 it. +0.3 stars extra for breaking the law.
