Damnation IPA 6.0%, Holy Goat Brewing, Scotland
2 ratings
Damnation IPA
6.0% New England IPA / Hazy IPA
This beer was brewed to celebrate Damnation Festival, the UK’s premier extreme metal festival. Brewed with all Scottish barley, wheat and oats and heavily dry hopped with Citra and Mosaic. Our second iteration of this brew features a slightly tweaked and perfected recipe, utilising the same thiolised yeast along with a healthy addition of Cascade hops in the mash. Drink fresh! Hail the goat! Artwork by Xavi at Error Design.

Damnation IPA, Scotland

Quite odd to have an IPA from these guys, this is only the second I've had. This particular brew was first made for Damnation festival last year, I believe exclusively sold there, this year is back again and for sale online. It appears to be a simple brew. Deep amber honey coloured and very hazy. It's very big on the nose with hops and fruit. Rich in pineapple, clementine, lime, grapefruit with some bubblegum and pine. Tis Citra and Mosaic after all! It's big in the mouth too, decent big body and fairly fluffy in the mouth with moderate carbonation. Its got heft to it with the hop content explicit and alcohol content of 6%. It's got some real pineapple cube (the sweets) tang to it which is nice, juicy orange, hint of pink grapefruit with lime and bubblegum on the finish with only a little pine at this stage. Speaking of stage...as we know the beer at festivals tend to be lacklustre and expensive and I can imagine being pleasantly surprised to get this at a festival. Big enough to last a full set and enjoyable enough to think you're not drinking swill for the sake of it. Artisan sours is holy goats thing, but the guys over there love their metal music and so came this forte into IPA. This one is normal and that's odd because the previous IPA of there's was more unique take on yellow beer. This is nicer from what I remember. You could argue its boring as it's simple brew but it's very hoppy and recently done.
