Relatively cloudy, deep amber beer with standard carbonation produces a creamy fluffy head that reaches one finger. The foamy lid melts soon to a neat lace ring. A few haze marks can also be noticed on the rim of the glass. A rather ripe fruity scent. Apricot, grapefruit, orange, mandarin. Biscuit, oat cracker, faint honey. A fairly comprehensive package of nuances here. The tongue enjoys fruity flavors that whirl around the malty and biscuity notes. Grapefruit is obvious. Apricot and mango can also be observed. Orange, mandarin, lemon and a piney hint complete the cocktail. The body is light-medium to medium. The finish serves pretty much the same ripe fruity and malty elements, maybe with a slightly crisper twist though. Or not. I've got a pantheon of animals in a pagan soul, Vishnu and Gaia, Aztec and Maya; dance around my totem pole; aftertaste and totem pole. The mouthfeel is medium, thick, ripe, soft, smooth, dry and a bit crisp. The label says that this is a West Coast IPA, and indeed, that's what it is. A classical piece whose IBUs are nicely in control.
