Opaque deep amber colour yet visible light carbonation and a minimal ring of head. Deep pineapple on the nose with rich apricot satsuma and pine. This is a big DIPA made with Simcoe Cyro, Idaho 7, Strata and Mosaic, which is quite the line up. Silky smooth in the mouth but with a gentle sparkle, medium body and alcohol heat at the end. The alcohol taste is pretty prominent actually, which is disappointing for a 8% ABV, thankfully it's contained to the finish. Pine is strong in this brew breaking through the initial fruit and persisting through the finish. The fruit is rich but not as juicy as I'd like and overshadowed by the pine and alcohol. Altogether though it's quite nice and reminds me of an American brew, but for me it's got too much pine and alcohol taste to it. I would instead prefer dank weed from the Strata and unadulterated Simcoe, not Cyro. It's definitely hoppy and if your a big fan of pine in your New England then you'll like this. Mosaics' pineapple trait is developing now over time and is presented very spikey with the resinous pine, which is a point...the pine finish accumulates on the tongue, which is nice, transforming it from a short finish to a long tang on the tongue. I'm getting less alcohol taste but it's still there, it just merges with the spikey pine(apple) better. To be fair it's a proper DIPA, not a jazzed up breakfast juice! Neon Raptor can be edgy and even extreme/experimental, making 10% pastry sours or sunshine loving gulpable gose. This brew is odd in that it's pretty much traditional or quintessentially a US style craft beer DIPA. It's a grower.
