A double porter, but very dark ruby in stead of pitch black. Bitter to bitter sweet.

Limpid, deep dark brown beer with decent, hasty carbonation releases a truly meager, latte-hued, small-bubbled lace ring that contracts soon to a thin ring circling the surface. No splashes are left behind. The fragrance pushes forward an interesting mixture of licorice, licorice root and dark chocolate. I can also detect a tad coffeeish note and a small dollop of cough syrup. The taste is relatively lame compared to the fragrance. However, I can easily pick bags of licorice and strong licorice root, accompanied by a neat pour of cough syrup, dark malt and a little injection of raw chocolate. The body is medium. The beer finishes with somewhat sweet cough syrup, dark malt, licorice and dried plum. Generally speaking, the aftertaste oils the tastebuds for a relatively short period. The mouthfeel is light-medium, somewhat sappy, lip-glueing and a tad medicinal. The mouthfeel is also a bit lame and flat but also slightly oily.
