Just Guzzlin'
4.8% India Pale Ale
Welp, we've only gone and done our first DDH IPA! Brewed with double additions of our current favourite hop combination: Loral and Talus. Talus brings a big and bold Pink Grapefruit charachter while the Loral softens this with a touch of light citrus and a subtle floral hint.

Day 4 advent. Wouldn’t be a brew cavern calendar without the black iris crew. Decent DDH

Had this on tap in October from the outdoor bar - lovely place in Nottingham - and it was better on tap. Still a good beer. Different to most DDH I've had, give it a go.

This is the lowest DDH I think I’ve had and it’s good especially at 4.8%. A slight fruitiness in the nose and a solid dry finish. Could drink quite a few of these!

Golden pale with slight haze, visible carbonation and slight head retention. Light and fresh aromas of citrus and flora, grapefruit and elderflower. This is a bit spritzer/lambrusco like, obviously it doesn't have the acidity of wine but does have the light sparkle and delicate floral notes with a grapefruit stab. It has a bitter finish and reminds me of a summer ale. For me it's disappointing as a double dry hop IPA but then it is brewed with Talus and Loral only and therefore isn't going to be a big hitter or deep juicy number, its more of a normal IPA. Floral notes instead of pine is nice and preferable for me but the vague grapefruit citrus isn't the best flavour. That said it does grow on you and is easy drinking. Light & thin mouthfeel and light body with a quick finish yet floral note lingers. This is a good brew to knock back sufficiently chilled on a hot summers day. It's their first DDH beer despite having produced a dozen or two different brews, including a DIPA, stout, hazy IPA and more. Could be worth trying a different brew before writing off Black Iris as mediocre.
