We're going to try another one of New Holland's Bourbon barrel reserve beers. Has an ingredient I'm not familiar with, Stroopwafle cookies. It's a Dutch thing. Starts with a short head that dissipated very quickly. Deep brown color of course. Aroma reveals deep malt and sweet caramel. Texture is perfect, smooth with just a little bit of dryness. The flavor has many aspects. It's a blend of flavors, each is apparent, none dominate. First the bourbon barrel, then caramel, then milk chocolate, then cinnamon, then coffee. Each appear closely behind the next so that they immediately become a blend of taste. Excellent! But that's a problem. This new flavor, Stroopwafle, is a flavor uncommon in the US. Not familiar with it, so I can't find it. Actually, I don't find any cookie or bakery quality. Next, I have no problem finding an easily identifiable milk chocolate. It's nowhere on the label. Why? Ryan and I both immediately found it. This is another beer, there's been a few, that is excellent but gets downgraded for their marketing department. Buy itself, this is easily a 4.7 or 4.8 beer. Expectations are created when the label is specific as to what is in the beer. This one was misleading. No bakery flavor, no chocolate in the description. Congratulations to the Brewer, shame on you marketing department.
