This Texas beer came in a special box of two 12 oz cans. Special limited release, aged 4 months in fresh whiskey barrels. Another Duo beer tasting with my son-in-law in Houston Texas. In the glass, powerful whiskey aroma. A touch of malt in the background. Deep brown head that recedes quickly but the effervescence continues. Taste brings an abundance of alcohol that seems even stronger than the 12% advertised. A whiskey flavor but not the normal bourbon. Although the alcohol dominates, a powerful, mildly bittersweet chocolate malt competes for your attention. As the finish arrives, the alcohol burn never wavers. Instead it combines with an intense refined molasses that burns the back of the tongue. Towards the end, slight notes of dark fruit appears just below the surface, blending and smoothing has it goes. The alcohol in this 12% beer actually tastes much stronger. Very long alcohol finish that warms the body from top to bottom. Martin House did good on this one.
