This came in a special 2 can limited edition box from Martin House in Fort Worth Texas. Son-in-law and I are comparing using Duo again. Great way to share beers from a distance. Label on the can says that this Imperial Barrel aged Stout is like motor oil. We will see. Very heavy coming from the can. Lands in the glass heavy with no splash whatsoever. Only a few small bubbles but not even enough to cover the surface of the snifter glass. Intense aroma of boozy alcohol and dark fruit. With first sip, wow! This is the heaviest and thickest beer I've ever had. They said think motor oil, yes, 5-year-old used motor oil. It's that heavy. Flavor is equally strong. Oak booze initially, completely feels your sinus. Then comes the super sweet molasses, double heavy roasted malt, and then the dark fruit appears. Just as you think you're going to smoothly slide into the finish, you're wrong. The finish strangely hits you again with a blast of alcohol followed by a deep cocoa chocolate and turning this heavy and sugary mixture into a slightly dry and bitter ending. This is my kind of stout. You can't drink it, you can only sip it. Small sips with this one. Tons of flavor and complex changing as it develops. Can't give this wonderful beer a 5.0 because this weight is just overwhelmingly heavy. But it is a beer that I will remember forever. And that saying something.
