West coast IPAs we’re pretty much my gateway to craft beers, certainly on the pale ale side of the spectrum. Whilst they never fell out of favour they certainly took a back step as hazy and NE IPAs came on the scene and dominated proceedings. Every now and again I get a hankering for a west coast IPA, some thing that ain’t soft and fluff and fruity and hopilicious. I want something dry and bitter and lip-smackingly delicious. I want a malty backbone that props up the hops not something that dominates, not something sweet! This is all that. Sweet and malty with synthetic tangerine and grapefruit. Too sweet and not bitter or dry enough. A shame, cos Little Monster are normally on point.
