Our take on the smooth, easy drinking ambers poured in cafés across Belgium, Rare Vos (Strange Fox) takes its name from a tavern near Brussels known for cycling contests, pigeon races and outstanding ales. Pouring a brilliant copper with a creamy white head, this bright, beguiling beer is sensational to session, and pairs wonderfully with mussels, frites and other pub fare. Because at the end of the day, it’s good to enjoy the end of the day.

Not my usual fare but I'm kinda digging it. Not one I could have much of or often due to the heavy clove taste but glad I tried it.

OLUT: Rare Vos PANIMO: Brewery Ommegang OLUTTYYPPI: Amber Ale MAA: Yhdysvallat VAHVUUS: 6,5% VÄRI (EBC): Meripihkanoranssi (-) KATKEROT (EBU/IBU): - TUOKSU: Kellarimainen ja märkä viljainen. VAAHTO: Suuri. Vetäytyy kuitenkin melko nopeasti. GREY'S VIEW Vahva yrttinen ensipuraisu, jossa tuntuu myös voimainen maku. Puolirunsaasta humaloinnista ja erittäin tukevasta maltaan käytöstä tuleekin tällainen ruokaisa olut. Täyttävä, makureseptorit valtaava ja riittoisa olut. MUUTA MAINITTAVAA: Omaan makuun turhan täyttävä. Tällaisen voisi nautiskella talvella nuotion ääressä, järven jäällä kun ulkotulet lyövät ympärillä rytmiä kaikkeuteen.

I'm getting caramel and cloves in the aroma. Interesting combo. This is definitely the most interesting amber ale I've had thus far. Caramel and subtle-ish cloves in the taste. Some orange as well. Carbonation is very high and prickly reminiscent of a typical saison, only toned down just a touch. It's good, just not what I was expecting. 3.5/5
