🕯 Let’s dive into my cellar then… 🕯 And what I found was this 6-year old BA piece. The final chapter to my adventures with these absolutely lovely In Absentia Lucis’ from Other Half. BEER: In Absentia Luci (2015) (Rum Barrel Aged) BREWERY: Other Half Brewing Co. BEER STYLE: Imperial Stout (Rum BA) COUNTRY: USA ABV.: 11.0 COLOUR (EBC): Dark Brown Black (85.0) BITTERS (EBU/IBU): - AROMA: Rapidly developing. Dark wood, molasses, oak, rural. It’s so fast! HEAD: Dark Brown. Half a finger tall. Swift. GREY’S VIEW Imperial Stout aged in Rum Barrels. It’s damn intresting to dive into a piece that really should make one think and ponder it. You know, make the palate work hard. So lovely and exciting. Finally. First sip presents strong dark woody and charcoaled goings. The wood has rested for ever in the deepest swamp of the south. Yeah. Then comes the minerals, so pure and agile, palate cleasing feel what they bring. So pure. Also dark drybread, juicy darkberries (black wine berries & black berries), with some deeply forest soiled wood sorrels being there too. YARR! Lively! There’s dark roasted malts which burns a bit at times too. The being is firm and so damn stylish. Rum Barrels are there, although not that clear anymore. The feel is there though. Body is tiny bubbled, easy and fast with its’ moves. There’s a overall feel of classy style being in this one and I absolutely adore that! Although the forest is well presented, but anyway, the being is so solid and firm. I like it. Aftertaste is seductive. So. Damn. Seductive. To another sip. It gives those pure minerals, slight feel of dark drybread and wood with those lingering dark berries. *deepest sigh…* OTHER NOTES: Beautiful piece to me. So beautiful and strong flavoured. I’m not exactly sure how many variants did Other Half made these In Absentia Lucis’, but I know that this was my 5th & final piece from these. So far. I’d guess there was maybe 7 of these around at best? Other Half is focused into Pastry Stouts at the moment (2019~), so it’s not likely they’ll return to this series anywhere near in the future. Which is sad. But anyhow! Untill next time. BOTTLED 1/2015 TASTED 6/2021
