This is an Atlanta beer that I took to my son-in-law in Houston. Were each having it using Duo to compare.
What a complex and ever-changing brew. Had to have numerous sips over an extended period because it continuously was changing. To begin with, it had a small very deep brown head that totally disappeared quickly. Even the pour was like honey it was so thick. Aroma was the strong bourbon barrel that was a quality of its aging. The first sip was as thick of texture of any beer I have ever experienced. Flavor has the expected bourbon but also a strong charred dark chocolate. That was not part of the aroma at all. Extremely sweet that has a molasses quality. The 13.9% bourbon warms the throat all the way to the stomach. But not in an unpleasant manner. Besides the bourbon barrel and a deeply charred chocolate, during the middle a raw unrefined vanilla extract began to appear. Finish transitions to a mild bitter milk chocolate with only a whiff of the bourbon.
This is an extremely complex brew that is very heavy and very flavorful. The 13.9% is strong yet not overpowering. Excellent beer.
