Fated Farmer: Concord Grape
7.1% Sour / Wild Ale
Presenting a gorgeous burgundy color with crimson highlights, Fated Farmer: Concord Grape offers a bold and lucid aroma of Welch's grape juice. As the glass opens up, notes of Merlot, raspberry jam, and hints of blueberry offer supporting roles. Finishing dry, with a well-rounded acidity that rides upon a light and effervescent body, this is a distinct addition to our Fated Farmer lineup.

5/2020 pullotettua Trilliumia. ULKOASULTAAN olut on kuparinpunaista ja siihen nousee luonnonvalkea vaahto. TUOKSU on kirpeä ja raikas. Kuivaa valkoviiniä ja Spriteä. MAKU on alkuun kuiva ja hapan. Viinirypälettä sekä kuivaa viinisyyttä. Keskimaussa käydään vähän makean puolella pienen sitruksisen lisän kanssa, kunnes kuivuus palaa taas jälkimakuun. SUUTUNTUMA on keskitäyteläinen ja runsaasti poreileva. Raikas ja miellyttävä olut taas Trilliumilta.

Having worked outdoors for hours and then even more hours, my every muscle is aching. 😩 The good thing is that I did everything I planned to and even more. So why not a reward beer? This cutie wears a scarlet dress with a deep orange hue. Locked carbonation is let loose and produces a bright white, tiny-bubbled head that barely grows one finger tall. Long retention sustains an attractive lace ring that orbits the surface. The first impression of the scent is odd: barnyard and wet wool. Especially wet wool. Hmmm... makes me wonder if everything is okay. The bottling was in January 2020, that is more than two years ago. I can't see best before anywhere and I'm too lazy right now to google. Nevertheless, I also start picking oxidized red wine and something fruity that, after several inhales, I conclude is blackcurrant infused black tea. Not particularly attractive. Do I dare to taste? I take a sip. And another. Trying to roll the liquid all over my mouth. Mmmyes. Not stale, not barnyardy. Not woolly either. There's a distinct fruity flavor that dominates but I wouldn't draw the line to purple grape. I associate the flavor rather with damson or raw plum. Maybe also a bit of gooseberry. The taste package is relatively vinous, offering typical aromas of red wine barrel. Well, at least this is not too straightforward. The body is medium. That's welcome! The finish is almost entirely vinous, serving red wine components and soaked barrel flavors. I would still argue for damson instead of grape... The aftertaste munches bags of Concords and spits loads of seeds out. The mouthfeel is vinous, medium-tart, puckering and moderately astringent. It's juicy, somewhat sharp and even distantly funky but nothing that would compare to the funkiness of Lambics. Challenging due to the unexpected, and somewhat unwelcome, characteristics. Not really Trillium's top notch standard.

Difficult difficult style for me, damn. The picture tells it all. Beautiful color with a pinkish color. Really dry mouthfeel, yeasty and red berries such as acidy cranberry and red currant. Leafs in the mix. Still not comfortable with the style. TK seems to like it.

*deep sigh before even trying it* BEER: Fated Farmer: Concord Grape (2020) BREWERY: Trillium Brewing Co. BEER STYLE: American Wild Ale (BA) COUNTRY: USA ABV.: 7.1% COLOUR (EBC): Rose Hip Red (50.0) BITTERS (EBU/IBU): - AROMA: Interesting. Somewhat berried and yeasty but then again wild as tornado! HEAD: Pink and pretty damn fast. GREY’S VIEW Congord Grape flavoured American Wild Ale aged 5-7 months in Pungeons. The first sip. And you gotta Love that Trillium yeast base! It’s astonishing! Well built, covering and so beautifully forged to give room to the flavours! Absolutely! Taste gives me redwine berries, some lingonberry, tad amount of cranberries and loads of leafy being. Surely there’s also lively minerals and stone feel in there too. Slow sipper for sure. Mouthfeel is surprisingly soft and giving. Tiny bubbled being wraps everything more then nicely together. Aftertaste gives more of those pure juicy berries with their lingering belng to this piece. Yammy stuff! OTHER NOTES: Ooomph! Once again, a true Wild Ale from Trillium 🙏🏼 The purest of ingredients and being so stylish, so damn stylish…astonishing. BOTTLED 21/1/2020 TASTED 12/7/2021
