Die Farbe leuchtet warm im Kerzenlicht und erinnert an Portwein oder alte Sherry-Casks. 👃 Geruch: Komplexe, elegante Reifearomen: Rotwein, Sherry, getrocknete Pflaumen & Rosinen / Holzwürze, Vanille, leichte Tannine / Deutliche Säure, Apfelessig-Anklänge, wilde Brett-Noten / Ein Hauch Leder, feine oxidativ-nussige Töne. 👅 Geschmack: Ein aromatisches Erlebnis mit Tiefgang: Fruchtige Säure (rote Beeren, Sauerkirschen, Cassis) / Weintypische Noten von Pinot Noir & Barrique / Leichte oxidative Süße, getrocknete Früchte, Rosinen / Holz- und Fassnoten, etwas Vanille, Tanninstruktur / Dezente wilde Brett-Charakteristik. Der Antrunk ist vinös und lebendig, dann folgt ein vielschichtiger Körper voller Kanten, Reife und Eleganz. Die Balance zwischen Säure, Fass und Frucht ist beeindruckend. 👄 Mundgefühl: Weinähnlich, samtig, trocken und dennoch füllig. Wenig Kohlensäure, passend zum Fassreife-Stil. Wärmt leicht durch den hohen Alkohol, ohne spritig zu wirken. 🏁 Abgang: Extrem langanhaltend: rote Früchte, feine Essigsäure, Holz und trockene Weintannine bleiben minutenlang präsent. Ein Finale wie bei einem gereiften Barrique-Rotwein. 📝 Fazit: Ein aussergewöhnliches, international gefeiertes Sour Ale, das mit jedem Jahrgang an Komplexität gewinnt. Die 2018er Edition zeigt BFM in Bestform: weinartig, tiefgründig, herausfordernd und gleichzeitig harmonisch. Nichts für Einsteiger – aber ein absolutes Highlight für Sour- und Fassbierliebhaber. Vuodelta 2018 olevaa villiä blendiä. Itselläni tämä on ollut kellarissa 09/2020 lähtien. Kuiva, keskihiilihappoinen, ryhdikäs, hapan, tasapainoinen ja kirpsakka. Bourbonia, tanniinisuutta, marjaisuutta, happamuutta ja kirpeyttä. Oikein toimiva. Ihan mielenkiintoista olisi maistaa millainen tämä oli kuusi vuotta sitten.

Nez : Un bois épicé et des notes bien dans le style, vécu pas mal d'acidité. Bouche : Un régal de complexité ! Du bois, des épices, une acidité aigre délicieuse qui tapisse bien la bouche, du citron, un sucre brun léger. C'est profond et très riche. Peut-être du cuir et de la vanille, je ne sais pas - c'est très riche. En longueur on est sur de la vinaigrette boisée et acidulée ! C'est puissant mais surtout très long. Toujours au top sur cette belle référence belge à la pression, classique et rare (ici vieillie 4 ans) 🍻

Assez liquoreux mais acide en fin de bouche On sent des fruits confits, du bon gros chêne comme si on croquait le fût, et c’est finalement assez proche d’un porto, avec le côté sucré beaucoup plus léger

Toujours aussi bon, acidité mais aussi sucré. Ça reste du top et c'est difficile d'en trouver.

One for the road. I just can't miss this opportunity: Bière de Garde, vintage 2018, ABV 11 %. 😳 Here we go. Practically limpid, extremely dark burgundy beer with a good amount of brown hue and languid carbonation unleashes a lazy, off-white head that barely spreads on the surface in the first place. A modest lace ring is all what's is left of the so-called head after a short while. Indeed, it dies fast. The scent is vinous. It's both elegant and edgy. Very sour. I 💜 fermented raisin and young red wine, or is it rather fermented grape juice made of purple grapes? Further on, I'm picking sour black cherry, a proposal of blackberry and an elaborate note of red wine barrel. The taste receptors get soaked in sour palette: hefty fermented purple grape, a bit of blackberry, copious red wine, even a tad Sherry-like. Interestingly, I can also pick a lofty pinch of cranberry among the gustatory components. Black cherry keeps its head low and goes now only in moderation. Although the package is relatively sour, there's something sweet like juice or a whisper of jam added to it. The body is medium-full. The finish is identical to the actual taste. No difference. Vinous for sure. The end takes its time, which I find welcome. The mouthfeel is somewhat full, intense, deep, rich in berries, reasonably tart and a bit puckering. It's vinous, barrel aged (don't know if this actually is...), juicy, rich and elegant. Not particularly complex but offers dimensions. This is very much like Flanders Red! Crazy!! 💜💜💜 Big and slow beer anyway!
