No messing around with the maple syrup here, it's shovelled on in spades, with chocolate, coffee and a bit of smoke doing their best to keep up. The maple flavour makes it onto the palate, but the promise of sweet syrupy richness doesn't quite deliver. Instead, there's a rapid dry-out to a smoky, bitter finish, and the coffee wins through, with just an echo of the maple syrup left over. Not disappointed, just not what I was expecting. Maybe another can will set the record straight?...

Adventtikalenteri numero 2 saapui tänään 10. joulukuuta. Ja ykkösessä heti Whiplash! Vielä suurempi yllätys kun lasiin kaatuu musta puuro ja kyseessä onkin imperial stout. No ei se mitään. Pitänee joskus kattoa mitä avaa. Paahteista, lähes palanutta kahvia ja maltaisuutta. Mukava makeus tuosta vaahterasiirapista. Myös humalan puraisua löytyy. Ei tämä ollut kuitenkaan siirappinsen paksua, vaan ennemmin aika kevyt. Makeus myöskin vain häivähdys ja kuivahtaa lopulta suuhun. Mielenkiintoinen tapaus. HonestBrew Ultimate #1.

Väriltään pikimusta, paksu vaalean ruskea vaahto. Tuoksussa tumma suklaa, kahvi ja vanilija. Suutuntuma on kevyt. Maussa tumma paahtoinen kahvi, vanilija, suklaa sekä reilu katkeruus. Lopussa korostuu lämpö, paahteisuus ja mieto katkeruus. Ehkä tämä on hieman stout joka on dipan serkku. Ensimmäinen kokemus Whiplashin stouteista on positiivinen.

Taste has chocolate, woody maple syrup, some burnt malt with licorice tones and decent drying out bitterness to cleanse the palate and to hide the alcohol. First sip is surprisingly light and very pleasent. I think I have never experienced a beer in this strength to have such a nice foamy lightness and still with so full mouthfeel👌Considering the strenght and young age of this beer it is surprisingly balanced and crushable!
