One for the weekend that ends soon. Work is waiting for me on Monday. 😒 The beer pours foggy, deep mango-juice-colored. The laidback carbonation creates a tiny-bubbled, off-white head that grows standard one finger tall. The foamy carpet dissipates quickly to a hair-thin lacing and leaves a few small dots on the glass. The olfactory provision includes grassy dry hops, spruce twigs and some citrusy hints, especially grapefruit peel. The fragrance is simple and straighforward unlike what I anticipated. The taste receptors get relatively piney dry hops with a distinct resinous twist. Grapefruit peel and lemon pith are abundant, accompanied by a tad orange peel. Although the gustatory supply is basically rather fruity, the real tropical fruits are unfortunately nowhere. The body is medium to medium-full. The beer ends with somewhat harsh piney and grassy hops as well as a generous drop of resin. Grapefruit peel, lemon and moderate orange complement the cocktail that otherwise remains somewhat deficient as to a 10 % Imperial IPA by Other Half. The aftertaste imagines the tastebuds in the sequoia pine forest of the Californian hinterland for quite some time. The mouthfeel is juicy, zesty, pulpy and massively pithy. It's crisp, somewhat piney and resinous but also relatively simple and straighforward. Tropicalness is difficult to get here. Unapologetic anyway. Clean as well. Old-schoolish for sure. Tasty and demanding but the Untappd average of 4.27 with more than 3,100 check-ins is, however, overrated in my opinion.
