Caribbean Chocolate Cake (5th Anniversary Edition)
7.4% Stout
Brewed in collaboration with Cigar City Brewery, this is a dense, rich and luxurious stout. Hand roasted cacao nibs from the US give hints of tamarind and soft lemon. The malt provides coffee and roast notes in abundance, while the experimental OCC hop variety offers orange, chocolate and coconut flavours. Ageing on Cypress Wood is the icing on the cake. Pure bottled indulgence.

Känner inte riktigt chokladen, men en god stout var det allt! Välgjord och lättdrucken, ingen alkoholsmak, väldigt låg smak av kaffesump. Låg smak av kakao

Oh yes to that warming element from the first taste. Got lucky and found a lonely can at the local beer shop and had it in rack ready for a pour. Still as good as before. Bring on another brew!

This Stout is a collaboration between Siren Craft Brew and Cigar City Brewing. I can hence anticipate good quality stuff. The beer pours opaque, oily pitch black. The introvert carbonation unleashes a cappuccino-colored, small-bubbled froth that almost reaches two fingers. The foamy pillow loses slowly air and descends to a cute lace ring on top. The glass is left with a bunch of tiny downpouring splatters. The nose receives a lovely, balanced medley of dark chocolate and cacao nibs, smaller amendments of tonka beans, licorice and espresso. The taste profile twists in a more intense and tangy direction. I pick bags of dark chocolate and a good heap of raw cacao powder, seasoned with modest licorice, a tad bitter coffee and a pungent woody component. As if I also found a drop of young harsh Bourbon in the shadows. The name indicates pastry-like elements that, nevertheless, remain absent. The body is medium. The beer ends with licorice root, raw chocolate, bitter overstayed coffee and a good injection of burned coffee beans. A silent sigh of Bourbon-soaked barrel hovers sharply in the background. The aftertaste gives the tastebuds challenging work for some time. The mouthfeel is rather strong, a bit sharp, intense, a tad burned and slightly woody. The mouthfeel is, furthermore, somewhat dry and not particularly full. Good stuff indeed but not mind-blowing.
