Café Deth
14.8% Imperial Stout
A weaponized quantity of freshly roasted whole bean coffee from Dark Matter Coffee imbues our Deth’s Tar Barrel-Aged Imperial Oatmeal Stout with assertive coffee aromatics without overshadowing the base beer on the palate. Pair with rich food or enjoy on its own. Keep cold. Enjoy now. We mean it.

Barrel Aged Advent Calendar Day #7 Canned on 10-14-2020 Bourbon and coffee in the aroma with a little bit of chocolate. Taste has coffee first, followed by bourbon and chocolate notes. Despite being almost 15%, this isn't boozy at all and drinks more like an 11-12% beer. The body is full with an appropriately low amount of carbonation. Always a treat. Among the best barrel aged coffee stouts I've had the pleasure of enjoying. High 4.75/5

Barrel Aged Advent Calendar Day #11 Canned 10-14-2020 Coffee and bourbon throughout the aroma. Taste has coffee first, followed by bourbon and then you just get smacked with coffee again. Some oak shows up in the late mid-palate and lingers into the finish along with coffee. The body is full with a lower amount of carbonation. This one always delivers, but tonight it seems like the coffee is stronger than I remember. Definitely my favorite one so far in this year's calendar. Easy 5/5

Advent Calendar Day #18 2020 vintage. Officially 2/3 of the way through the Advent Calendar now. Coffee and bourbon in the aroma. Taste has coffee and bourbon right up front, followed by oak and notes of vanilla from the barrel aging. Delicious aftertaste of bourbon soaked coffee. The body is medium-full, bordering on full bodied with an appropriately low amount of carbonation. This is an incredible beer that I appreciate more and more each time I have it. A more full body would boost this to 5 stars. Solid 4.75/5 Upon further sipping, this is a 5/5

Barrel Aged Advent Calendar Day #24 2018 vintage Coffee and bourbon in the aroma. Taste has coffee and bourbon right up front, followed by oak and vanilla. Has a nice bit of sweetness that I don't remember from before. I'm pleasantly surprised that the coffee is still holding on after 2 years. Coffee can sometimes fade pretty quickly. The body is medium-full with a lower amount of carbonation. One of the best bourbon barrel aged coffee stouts I've had the pleasure of drinking and I make sure I buy some every year. 4.75/5

Classic imperial stout, beautifully smooth extremely heavy coffee taste, packs a very mean punch.

2018 vintage. Bourbon, oak and coffee in the aroma. Taste has bourbon, coffee, chocolate and oak, which shows up more towards the finish. Medium-full body with a lower amount of carbonation. Amazing stout. I can't wait to try this year's. Not quite a 5 star beer, but a solid 4.75/5

Bourbon, chocolate and coffee in the aroma. Taste has bourbon first, followed by coffee and chocolate. Dark fruits are present as well as some oak from the barrel aging. I will hold off on rating this one tonight, due to my nose not being in the best shape, which is affecting my sense of taste, but it is very tasty. Hard to find, a bit pricey, but well worth the spend. Edit: My nose cleared up enough to decide to rate this. I'd give this a 4.5/5
