Tasting set 1/3. Murky, very dark brown beer with ruby tint and a neat, creamy -- both as for the color and texture -- head that settles soon to a beautiful, dense lace ring on top. The ring adorns the top for a significantly long time. The nose thinks this is the heaven: very puckering sour berry juice, first and foremost strong cranberry and rowanberry with a massive fermented twist, accompanied by a hefty aroma of portwine barrel as well as a tad moldy, cellary nuance. I can feel already now that this is going to be demanding! The palate is INSANE! I can't recall any beer which would have beaten this beer's sourness. Mama, this must dissolve my teeth! The elements of the taste include swampy cranberry and full ripe rowanberry -- both mashed, fermented and made into a sour fruit wine. Interestingly, one can also detect a bit of very raw apple in the taste. A powerful impression of long-aged portwine is what I'm also getting, nevertheless, alcohol is completely absent. It goes without saying that the body is big. The extreme sourness diminishes significantly relatively rapidly but the aftertaste still keeps the tastebuds alarmed for quite a long time. The mouthfeel is extremely well-attenuated, substantially tart and puckering, a tad spritzy as well as strongly dry. It's also distinctly cellary, somewhat rancid and rather stale. The barrel-aging has truly sharpened its edges. What a start with the tasting!
