Barrel Aged Advent Calendar Day #6
Canned in 2023
This is the first year No Rules has been able to be featured in the Advent Calendar. Prior to 2023 it was only sold in 22 oz. bottles, which doesn't meet the requirements. Now it's sold in 12 or 16 oz. cans, depending on the variant.
Coconut and sweetness from the turbinado sugar are both present in the aroma. No bourbon detected, which isn't uncommon for No Rules. Taste has... wow. No matter how many times I have this beer, the first sip still wows me. Taste has coconut and turbinado sugar starting it out, with the sugar being the more dominant flavor. The bourbon follows, adding a little bit of a bite to this and helps cut some of the sweetness. Truly perfection in a glass.
The body is full with a lower amount of carbonation, suitable for the style.
There's nothing I'd change about this beer and there's nothing I can think of to make this any better. They have double barrel aged this, and I love both equally for different reasons, but I wouldn't necessarily say one is better than the other. 5/5

2nd of the celebratory beers for my son being born. He was born on August 24th.
Bourbon, sweetness, coconut and oak in the aroma. Taste has bourbon, coconut, sugar, oak and notes of molasses. The extra barrel aging added a deeper bourbon flavor as well as some oak, which you could never really get from the regular No Rules. Well made and in glad I saved it for this life changing event.
The body is full and slightly mouth coating with an appropriately low amount of carbonation.
While the coconut comes through more in the regular version, the added bourbon and oak notes puts this right up there with it. Just like regular No Rules, 5/5

A Michigan beer my son-in-law and I found in Houston to use as a Duo beer. A little late for IPAs but will give this a shot.
The head is not overly high, about an inch and a quarter, but very heavy and frothy, lasting forever. Can't wait, we'll just have to have a beer mustache. Aroma gives off the citrus of both grapefruit and pineapple. Medium haziness with no particulates. Flavor gives me grapefruit, pineapple and hints of lemon peel. Very little bitterness. Nasal sweetness of botanical floral. Not so much a sweetness on the tongue as in the nose. Finish finally brings forth traces of mild hop bitterness. This is definitely my kind of IPA. Many of the qualities that Clown Shoes brings to that category.

Coffee galore in the aroma. Taste has tons of coffee, some turbinado sugar, bourbon and oak. Definitely different than regular No Rules, but it's not a bad thing, just different. Borderline full body with lower carbonation. Excellent coffee beer. 4.5/5
Addition from my Untappd review: This is a coffee bomb. Right up my alley. If the coconut (and the base beer in general) weren't so covered up by the coffee, this would likely be a 5 star beer. Still an amazing beer.

Very bourbon heavy flavor. The chocolate and raspberry are the strongest in the aftertaste. Solid variant. High 4/5

Sugar, cinnamon and bourbon in the aroma. Taste has turbinado sugar, cinnamon, coconut and bourbon. I know there's no cinnamon in this, but I'm tasting it. Medium-full body with lower carbonation. Slightly different each time it's made, but a perfect beer year after year. 5/5
