Liquid Ruffle bar, remember them?
I only realised they were a gonner when I tasted this!
Didn’t expect fireworks but this delivered on flavour and it had a decent mouthfeel too. Carbonation was evident so wasn’t a thick oily boy but it had good depth and a oily consistency

2022 Christmas Advent Beer 6a.
Bitterness from the outset is quite assertive. Soon mellows though, very pleasant. Caramel and toffee balance well with an ever-present bitterness. Proper old man’s beer, makes a refreshing change to try something that most would consider twiggy that’s actually decent

Like drinking an iced coffee with a smidgen of hot chocolate thrown in. Some roast malt notes and mild bitterness there but these are secondary to the sweet coffee flavours.

A tempered roastiness and a dry finish. Smooth and rather rich for a dry Irish stout. Good beer, I could session on this rather a lot!

Some you win, some you lose! That’s the way I approach Belgian beers (except Quads, you always win with quads!!)
Well this one is a win, definitely. There’s a deep and pleasurable malt character that I’ve not experienced before with this style. Caramel and biscuit flavours sit alongside the yeasty esters of banana and clove.
Pleasant and quite unique.
