Another loony: a wasabi sour. Officially, I guess this is another Fruited Gose, or Tomato Gose if you want to be more specific.
This is interesting because I 💚 wasabi. Looking forward! Alright, let me start with the appearance: hazy, deep red-hued orange, like guava juice. The head is more or less negligible.
Loads of sautéed tomato in the air. And salt although less than in yesterday's bacon beer. I'm also imagining lovage somewhere in the background. Now, the olfactory supply is different from what I anticipated because I don't spot wasabi but associate the medley with another tomato dish, probably without any meat though.
The same journey continues on the tastebuds: bowls of sautéed and generously salted tomato. Blackpepper and a whisper of lovage perhaps added. However, wasabi is portrayed in the shadows in a surprisingly moderate form.
The body is light-medium. The tail is marginally spicy but almost impossible to associate with wasabi, it could well be some moderate chili variety. Salt refuses to disappear, or even become diluted.
Feels light-medium, vegetal – again in a good way –, and spiced but not enormously spicy anyway. This is also quite juicy although there's no fruits here whatsoever. But what I'm missing here is the wasabi. It would have made this Oriental but now it's not. Surely this is, again, a unique innovation but fails to deliver wasabi that I so much wanted it to deliver.
