A bold, nutty brown ale enhanced with the flavor of roasted chestnuts.

Légère avec une petite amertume. Désaltérante mais manque un peu de puissance.

A local dry English-style Porter from Niagara-on-the-Lake, a cute village close to Niagara Falls. The beer pours impenetrable deep dark brown like black coffee. The shy carbonation unleashes a sponge-like, cappuccino-colored head that measures 1.5 fingers. The froth melts soon down to a hair-thin lacing on the surface. The retreating head leaves basically no traces on the glass. The nose receives a reasonable mixture of light-roasted coffee beans, raw cacao powder and toasted rye bread. The fragrance is, generally speaking, delicate but those few components are still easily detectable. The tongue receives the first sip: a good amount of licorice, some bitter black coffee, light-roasted coffee beans and a silent sigh of raw cacao powder. I can additionally pick a tiny injection of toasted rye bread among the gustatory elements. While the medley of elements basically works fine, the body drops the rating seriously: it's more or less watery. Even if the ABV is 5.3 %, the body is unaccceptably scanty. The beer ends with a tad licorice and lactose-infused mocha. The aftertaste disappears rushedly from the stage. The mouthfeel is watery, a bit roasty, faintly lip-glueing and way too easy. The label is fascinatingly retro. I love it! It's simultaneously the best part of the beer.
