Whilst strolling the aisle looking for a stout my attention was snared instead by possibilities offered up by this mushroom infused golden ale. I have pondered brewing a wild mushroom beer so couldn't pass this untried. It presents a slightly muddy orange colour, with a decent white, average head. Some mild lacing occurs but the foam layer retreats to whispy sparse recollections of it original state. According to the interpretations of nasal senses, the initial aromatics are of husky graininess. Mild cereal and a nutty, I think almond, smell ride over what I would call underlying sweetness. Likewise me tongue tells me tales of that same husky grain. It definitely has some residual sweetness and that almond like taste remains as part of the profile. There is a very mild tartness, not quite astringent, but possibly from hops that adds a nice dry balance to the sweetness. Other than those components it doesnt have a lot more to note. I'm not sure how impact the Lion's Mane had to the taste but I think I was hoping for more. Not bad just not particularly outstanding.
