Good, crisp, refreshing blonde ale with a resinous, citrus hop flavour

Great Ale with a full bodied, deep, sweet malt flavour & well balanced hop bitterness

Very good Best Bitter, a lot of love & effort put in to brew with 5 malt & 2 U.S hop varieties = a splendid juicy ale with character.

Grapefruit citrus bitterness & not quite balanced by the malt but drinkable

Smooth & sweet, festive red ale with a malty fruitiness & a little spice.

Good Porter, a little on the sweet side with the usual roasted malt & slight coffee & chocolate notes, plus a toffee like finish.

Festive Porter style with a roasted malt character & caramel, vanilla & chocolate flavours

Festive Old Ale which is a more sessionable strength to the norm. Dark, roasted & initially sweet with a slight bitter finish.

The Brewery is local to me so I really wanted to like this. I have, and remain, less than impressed with Wakering Gold/Cockleboat, the truth is that there is a plethora of other breweries doing them so much better! Alas the same can be said of Empire, billed as "An American Pale style beer exploding with citrus aromas and using exclusively American hops" It poured a lovely golden colour, cleared quickly and really looked the part, unfortunately I wasn't impressed with the overall taste and found it had a bit of a sour aftertaste (not a criticism of The Last Post) Each to their own, I'll stick to Mosaic, Disco Macaw, Shipyard........
