One of the last beers I sent to Texas for Duo purposes. This one from Valdosta Georgia. Georgia Beer Company, peanuts of course. Nice, full, tan head. Pretty thick and it's lasting. Deep brown, opaque color. Dark, even for a porter. Sweet peanut butter aroma with just a little malt in the background. Also has traces of chocolate. The deep brown color tricks you into thinking this will be very soft and heavy, but it's not. Medium texture at best and crisp. Like a porter. Flavor begins with a strong Porter malt with background notes of peanuts and cocoa. Not peanut butter, roasted peanuts and dry cocoa. Sprinkle in a dash of brown sugar for sweetness. Finish also ends dry as the flavor trails off into a light roasted bitterness. If you enjoy porters that are not over indulged with extra flavors, then you'll love this. This is a good classic Porter with a subtle amount of real peanuts and cocoa proudly in the background. I know they're real peanuts because the can has a warning label for those that are allergic. And... It's getting better with each sip. Glad I was forced to buy a six pack.

My son-in-law in Houston and I are Duoing this Georgia beer that I brought to him. They took a blonde ale and added real raspberries and let it ferment. No aroma from the can. Frothy very pink head, interesting. Now I'm getting some faint raspberry. Texture is light and clean. Flavor bursts forward with a tart raspberry, a true and real fruit flavor, nothing artificial about it. As it goes into the finish, only then does it get a semi-sweetness and modestly bready. This doesn't seem like I am drinking a beer at all. More like a soda fountain raspberry lemonade. You could take this to the PTA and serve it and no one would know.

A Duo beer with my son-in-law in Texas. This is one I brought to him, a Valdosta Georgia beer. We will both try it and see what we think. Short head, almost but not quite opaque brown color. Aroma smells like a pot of coffee. Soft, almost creamy texture. All I can say is this is a cup of deep roasted coffee. Only the smallest touch of sweetness from the lactose sugar they added. No reason to talk about a finish because it's all the same. Nothing complex, nothing profound about this beer. It is a deeply roasted coffee beer. Period. From first to last. Their description says "silky - smooth - coffee". That's exactly what you get. They did exactly what they said they were going to do. Although well done, it is still a beer that lacks uniqueness, seems like everybody has done one. It's good but boring. Still gets a decent rating.
